David Goldstein earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Maryland at College Park. In 1992, he obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law and began his career with the Office of the Public Defender. As an assistant public defender, Mr. Goldstein handled over 100 criminal trials including 4th, 5th and 6th amendment constitutional issues, motions to suppress and felony preliminary hearings. As lead counsel, he handled all aspects of litigation from inception to verdict.

With his extensive trial experience, Mr. Goldstein joined Allstate Staff Counsel Office in Baltimore, where he defended civil liability claims throughout the state of Maryland. His accomplishments at Allstate included a 90% success rate in over 110 jury trials. Thereafter, Mr. Goldstein went into private practice handling plaintiff personal injury matters including premises liability, auto claims and wrongful death matters. The experience gained from handling cases from the Plaintiff's Bar provided Mr. Goldstein with unique perspective in how cases are brought, negotiated and managed against trucking companies, insurance carriers, and private clients. This invaluable experience has enhanced Mr. Goldstein's ability to effectively negotiate strong settlements, as well as vigorously defend cases at trial on behalf of the defense industry.

Upon relocation to Florida, Mr. Goldstein joined State Farm Insurance Company as Staff Counsel in Fort Lauderdale where he handled all aspects of insurance liability defense matters. In 2004 Mr. Goldstein successfully defended 8 jury trials on State Farm’s behalf after which he was retained as head of the liability defense department for Marcos Rothman Valdes & Goldstein, P.L

In addition to exceptional litigation accomplishments, Mr. Goldstein is a frequent contributor and speaker at seminars providing training to claims personnel and risk managers in the insurance industry. Mr. Goldstein has lectured in Maryland, Oregon, Vermont, New Jersey, Virginia, and Florida on trial tactics, evidence law and strategy.

Mr. Goldstein is a member of the American Bar Association, the Maryland Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association, and the Florida Trucking Association. He brings a wealth of trial experience and insurance defense knowledge to our clients.
